Su-24 fighter-bomber crashes in Russia’s Far East, crew killed

BLAGOVESHCHENSK, October 20 (RIA Novosti) -Two pilots were killed on Thursday when a Russian Su-24 Fencer attack aircraft crashed at the the Ukrainka military airfield in Russia’s Far East, military prosecutors said.

“A Su-24 aircraft crashed while landing at about 12.00 local time (02:00 GMT) in the Amur region. Both pilots were killed in the crash,” a statement said.

The plane, which was flying in from the Central Russian city of Voronezh for planned maintenence work, reportedly ran off the landing strip and caught fire.

An investigation is underway.

 

 

 

 

 

БЛАГОВЕЩЕНСК, 20 окт – РИА Новости. Фронтовой бомбардировщик Су-24 потерпел аварию на аэродроме базы Украинка в Амурской области, сообщил РИА Новости источник в правоохранительных органах.

По его словам, самолет выехал за пределы взлетно-посадочной полосы и загорелся. Информации о пострадавших нет, причины аварии устанавливаются, сказал собеседник агентства.
