Suicide bomber attacks police post in N.Caucasus

A suicide bomber attacked a police post in Russia’s North Caucasus republic of Ingushetia, no policemen were killed or injured in the incident, a local police spokesman said on Tuesday.

“Around 4:00 p.m. Moscow time [12.00 GMT] near the village of Galashki, a man approached a police post and blew himself up on the spot,” the spokesman said. “He died.”

An investigation into the suicide bomb attack has been launched.

More than a decade after the end of a war against separatists in Russia’s North Caucasus republic of Chechnya, Russian security forces continue to fight militants in other regions in the area besides Chechnya, including Kabardino-Balkaria, Ingushetia, Dagestan, and North Ossetia.

Frequent attacks are staged on security forces, police and civilians.
