Sukhoi Crash Families to get 1.25 billion Rupiah

Sukhoi Civil Aircraft plans to pay 1.25 billion Indonesian rupiah to the families of those killed in the May Sukhoi Superjet crash in Indonesia, a company representative said on Wednesday.

“Taking into account the recommendations of the House of Representatives of Indonesia, JSC Sukhoi considers it possible to pay relatives of Indonesians who died at the crash 1.25 billion Indonesian rupiah (approximately $140,000 dollars) in each case,” he said.

The Sukhoi Superjet 100 (SSJ-100) passenger jet slammed into the side of Indonesia’s Mount Salak shortly after take-off on a demonstration flight on May 9. All 45 people on board were killed.

A preliminary examination of the flight recorder from the aircraft showed that all the systems were functioning properly up until impact, with the terrain awareness and warning system switched on, the mixed Indonesian-Russian investigation team has said.
