Tasmanian Greenpeace activist Colin Russell formally charged over Russian protest

Hobart 7000 The Department of Foreign Affairs has confirmed a Tasmanian Greenpeace activist has been formally charged over a protest in the Arctic.Colin Russell has been charged with hooliganism. Mr Russell and 29 other activists were arrested and charged with piracy in September after two of them attempted to climb a Russian oil rig in the Arctic.Last week authorities reportedly dropped the piracy charges, but replaced them with hooliganism, which carries a maximum penalty of seven years in prison.Greenpeace has described the charge as a fantasy which bears no relation to reality, and has a…
