Telephone conversation with US President Barack Obama

The telephone conversation took place at the initiative of the Russian side.

During the conversation, the two heads of state reviewed the results of recent bilateral meetings and future plans for political contacts.

Dmitry Medvedev and Barack Obama discussed in detail issues related to the final stage of negotiations on Russia’s accession to the WTO. They also exchanged views on the missile defence system in Europe.
International agenda issues discussed included the situation in Libya and around it. The Russian President stressed the need to avoid civilian casualties and the importance of reaching the objectives outlined in UN Security Council Resolution 1973.
