Three Children Dead, 18 Injured in School Bus Accident in South Russia

Three children were killed and another 18 injured after a school bus collided with another bus in the Stavropol Territory in south Russia, the regional emergencies center said on Sunday.

The accident occurred on Sunday afternoon when a musical school bus carrying children collided with another bus and overturned in the Pyatigorsk-Yessentuki highway, falling into a five-meter ditch.

“According to the latest data, three children died and another 18 were injured in the accident. Their age is being specified,” emergencies spokesman Oleg Degtyaryov said.

The injured children were taken to the Pyatigorsk central hospital.

According to statistics, 30,000 people lose their lives in traffic accidents every year in Russia due to the poor state of highway networks and reckless driving.
