Three new Moscow Metro stations unveiled in southeast

Mayor of Moscow Sergei Sobyanin unveiled three new metro stations in the southeast of Moscow on Friday morning.

The Lyublinsko-Dmitrovskaya line of the Moscow Metro was extended by 4.3 km and now has three new stations; Borisovo, Shipilovskaya and Zyablikovo, in addition to the 14 already existing.

The three stations are the first projects completed under the new Moscow Metro development program until 2020. They were inaugurated one month ahead of schedule.

“The trip from [Zyablikovo] to the city center used to take one or two hours, but now, with three new lines completed, it will take half an hour to get to the city center,” Sobyanin said during the opening ceremony.

He also said that Moscow authorities plan to open a car park for 450 vehicles near the end station to encourage car drivers to use public transport.
