Two people have been detained in connection with the murder of a senior administration official in the city of Podolsk near Moscow, a police source said on Thursday.
The body of Vera Sviridova, 53, who served as deputy head of the Podolsk administration and head of its financial department, was found in her house earlier this week. The 53-year-old had been shot in the head.
Police believe the motive was robbery.
This is the second murder of a leading official in the Moscow region in recent weeks. On August 22, the mayor of the city of Sergiyev Posad, Yevgeny Dushko, was shot dead by unknown gunmen when he was getting into his car.
