KIEV, July 14 (Itar-Tass) — Ukraine has set up a commission to expose the circumstances of a mass death of dolphins in the in area of Kinburn Spit in the Black Sea, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources said.

The team of investigators includes representatives of the international nongovernmental organization called the Black Sea Council for Marine Mammals, as well as a number of other experts.

If the commission exposes encroachments on environmental laws, its findings will be submitted to the Office of the Prosecutor General.

Ukrainian mass media say the sea waves washed ashore six dead dolphins at the Kinburn Spit last weekend. Three of the dolphins had clear signs of gunshot wounds.

Experts do not rule out a shoal of dolphins might have gotten trapped in fishery seines and the fishermen might have gunned them down to save the equipment from damage.
