VELSK /Arkhangelsk region/, July 26 (Itar-Tass) — A Velsk prison representative gave a negative reference to former director of the MENATEP company Platon Lebedev during the review of his petition for parole by the local court on Tuesday.

“Parole is inexpedient,” he stated at the hearing.

On December 30, 2010, Moscow’s Khamovniki court sentenced Lebedev and former Yukos CEO Mikhail Khodorkovsky to 14 years in prison for theft of oil and money laundering. On May 24, 2011, the Moscow City Court reduced their sentences by one year. The verdict came into force.
