Zenit want Arshavin back

A move back to Zenit St. Petersburg for Arsenal star Andrei Arshavin would be beneficial for both the player and the club, Zenit trainer Luciano Spalletti has said.

Arshavin left Zenit for Arsenal in February 2009, but after a remarkable first season in England – including four goals against Liverpool in a 4-4 draw at Anfield – his form has slumped and he is no longer a first team regular.

“It would be good for everyone if Arshavin returned to Zenit,” Spalletti told RIA Novosti. “He has proven more than once that he is a real winner.”

“We’ll speak to club directors in June,” he added. “Right now we need to get points with the players we have.”

Reigning champions Zenit are top of the Russian Premier League after three games and face CSKA Moscow – last year’s runners-up – at home on Sunday.
