Alive and kicking in Russia

This Swedish duo has been around for almost three decades. The looks on their faces has not changed much and nor has the sound of their songs. Yet the Moscow gig added a spicy Russian song to Roxette’s repertoire.

Roxette has presented their latest recording before their Russian fans on Thursday. Despite Marie Fredriksson’s ill health and the impact it has made on the singer, the band put all their concentration into the show and played the program extremely professionally. They even prepared a Russian specialty for the fans, having sung a song from Russia’s iconic comedy The Diamond Arm (1969).

Last year the band visited Russia within their comeback tour after Marie Fredriksson’s surgery. Fans of the Swedish stars were so happy to see their idols in 2010 that it inspired the band to please them over and over again and even prepare some new material.

In February 2011, the band, long-rumored to be recording new songs, released Charm School and set out on another full-scale world tour.

The band’s vocalist Marie Fredriksson has been experiencing serious health problems over the past years. Since she was diagnosed with a brain tumor, the band’s fate came to be hazy. Yet the singers have pulled themselves together and do not aim to leave their fans anytime soon.
