‘Fed-Up’ protest against govt., opposition expected in Moscow Jan.8

About 300 demonstrators will gather in downtown Moscow on Sunday afternoon for an authorized protest called Fed-Up against the authorities and the opposition altogether, the Ekho Moskvy website said.

The protesters, who have nothing to do with the latest series of anti-Putin protests, will gather on Bolotnaya Square across the river from the Kremlin to demand fair presidential elections, which are scheduled for March 4.

The action organized by the Volya (Will) political movement will protest against all the registered presidential candidates, including Putin, and against opposition leaders, who they believe have failed to offer any real plan of action.

“The forces that summoned us to the meeting do not really want to change anything, they just want to redistribute what we own,” the organizers said. The protest movement swept across Russia following the December 4 parliamentary elections, triggered by allegations of widespread vote fraud in support of the pro-Kremlin United Russia party.

About 300 people are expected to attend the meeting.
