2010 heat hottest, longest

Last summer was the hottest in Eastern Europe over the past 500 years, researchers from Lisbon University say. 

The 2010 heat wave was also the longest and covered a record large territory of more than 2 million square kilometers.

Even though experts don’t link the heat with global warming, they warn that the possibility of a repetition over the next decade has increased five to ten times.
