YEREVAN, Armenia — Armenia’s parliament has approved an agreement to host a Russian military base on Armenian soil through 2046.
Parliament voted 80-1 on Tuesday to approve the deal signed during President Dmitry Medvedev’s visit to Armenia last August. As part of the deal, Moscow also pledged to protect Armenia’s security and provide modern weapons for its military.
Last year’s agreement extended the original Russian 25-year lease on the base under a 1995 deal.
