KRASNODAR, July 31 (Itar-Tass) —— Ninety-nine passengers of the bankrupt Continent airline were transported from Anapa to St. Petersburg on Sunday, a source at the city transport department told Itar-Tass.
A Yamal flight took another 87 passengers to Krasnoyarsk, the Basel Aero managing company said.
In all, almost 270 Continent passengers are still stranded at the Anapa airport. One hundred and one of them will take a chartered flight to Moscow tonight.
The Federal Air Transport Service has called on Continent passengers to exchange their tickets for those of other airlines and not to come to the airport. “There is a deficit of seats on jetliners because it is a high season. Other airlines are unable to transport all of the Continent passengers,” the service said.
“Continent has no money even to supply food, drinking water and hotel accommodation to its passengers,” the service said. The four airports of the Krasnodar territory – Anapa, Gelendzhik, Sochi and Krasnodar – are doing that instead by the order of Krasnodar Governor Alexander Tkachyov. Vice-Governor Vadim Lukoyanov is in charge of the operative staff, which supervises assistance to the stranded passengers.
