Accused Obama bank robber arrested in Austria

Austrian police authorities are confident they have caught the ‘Obama Robber’, a man accused of robbing a series of banks while wearing a Barack Obama costume mask.

The 45-year-old German man was reportedly arrested after a police dog found the mask, a weapon and the haul from his most recent heist on a bank in the village of Fornach on Thursday.

He was arrested just 3 kilometres away, said police official Markus Mitloehner Friday, adding that the man had partially confessed to the robberies.

He is accused of carrying out seven bank heists in Austria since 2008 and became a nationally wanted criminal in the notoriously safe and crime barren Austria.
