The federal anti-drugs service in Russia’s Far East has destroyed a record quantity of wild hemp.
During a routine search, officers found a 6.4-hectare field in which the plant was growing. In total, they destroyed 400 tons of wild hemp.
Experts say it was enough to produce dozens of tons of marijuana.
The anti-drugs squad believes there may be more wild hemp in the area and will continue its search until autumn.
The aim of the operation is to combat drug production.
