At Least Three Dead in Russia’s South Passenger Bus Crash

At least three people, including two children, were killed after a passenger bus collided with a truck in Russia’s southern Rostov Region on early Thursday, a spokeswoman for the local traffic police said.

She said the accident took place on the Don federal highway at approximately 3:00 a.m. Moscow time (23:00 GMT Wednesday).

One of the causes for the crash, she said, is probably that the driver of the Mercedes bus, carrying a total of 13 passengers and two drivers en route from Gelendzhik to Ivanovo, exceeded the speed limit and did not see the Kamaz truck loaded with cement and eventually collided with it.

Other passengers sustained injuries and were hospitalized, she added, but did not specify the number of those injured in the accident.
