Aussie Cops Want Saiga Shotguns

Izhmash, the maker of the legendary Kalashnikov AK-47, will supply Saiga-12 semi-automatic smoothbore shotguns to police in Australia and Poland, the company reported on its web site Thursday.

They placed an unspecified number of orders at the IWA OutdoorClassics exhibition in Nuremburg, Germany, that took place on March 9 through 12.

Australian police chose a Saiga-12 modification that can fire stun shots and rubber bullets.

In late January the manufacturer said it will supply Saiga-12s to a number of police forces in the U.S.

At the time, Izhmash also signed an agreement on exclusive imports to the U.S. market with Russian Weapon Company and an agreement with Fime Group as Izhmash’s partner for manufacturing classic firearm models.
