Australian electro-pop duo head to Russia

An Australian duo formed in 2006 stormed the world far from immediately. However, the impact has been massive. On August 3, idols of the modern youth Empire of the Sun will play a gig in Moscow.

Today the names Luke Steele from The Sleepy Jackson and Nick Littlemore from Pnau have secured themselves a firm place in line with AC/DC, INXS and Kylie Minogue.

Empire Of The Sun are today named among few Australia musicians who managed to climb to international fame, even despite being huge stars on their own Southern continent.

Luke Steele and Nick Littlemore joined forces five years ago. Having released their debut studio album Walking on a Dream, the band instantly rose to the top of charts in Australia. But main European and American musical capitals were still to be conquered.

Their electro-psychedelic-pop melodies were contagious and dived deep into the hearts of international youth in Australia. They spread the word faster than any virus spreads in a community. The singles Walking on a Dream, We Are the People, Standing on the Shore and Without You became constant residents of beach clubs and discotheques all around the world.

In 2009, one of the band’s tracks earned fourth position on the BBC’s annual music poll. And that was it, the icebreaking point in Luke Steele’s and Nick Littlemore’s career.

Following huge success, the extravagant Australian musicians set out on tours around the world with their glaring costumes, spiritual dances and groundbreaking music. However their fans froze in breathless expectation of the next recording.

Recent rumors in the media say the band has just started working on the new album. But for now what we have is truly beloved Walking on a Dream hits that are due to sound in Moscow’s Arena Club next Wednesday. Don’t miss!
