UFA, September 1 (Itar-Tass) — The president of Russia’ s Republic of Bashkortostan, Rustem Khamitov, has announced the republic’s intention to create an aircraft-making cluster.
“Bashkortostan is taking efforts to create an aircraft-making cluster,” he said on Thursday.
He noted that Bashkortostan has large aircraft-making plants with a significant potential such as the Ufa Motor-Building Production Association, which output is estimated at 25 billion roubles.
He also mentioned the Kumertau Aircraft-Building Plant that demonstrates good production growth rates. At the same time, such enterprises as the aircraft-making enterprise Gidravlika and the Ufa Aggregate Production Association need strong financial support.
“We want to find out what prospects these enterprises have and how the republic can help them,” Khamitov said adding that these enterprises have vast production areas and hangars that are used ineffectively.
Most of them use aging equipment and should be modernized, he said.
Khamitov noted that the republic’s aircraft-makers should develop under a long-term program for 10-20 years.
He stressed the need for close cooperation with allied industries and interested companies.
