Moscow’s landmark Gorky Park is set to host the 5th Design Act festival. The park, fresh from a recent make-over which put it back at the center of the capital’s cultural life, is ready to welcome cutting-edge design works from around the globe.
The main exhibition will occupy the park’s largest square. Eclipsing some of the lesser-known names in contemporary design will be some iconic works such as Vivienne Westwood and Malcolm McLaren’s famous PunkPistol fashion collection, brought here from 430 King’s Road, London.
Russian and foreign projects will also be displayed as part of the festival’s extensive program. Gorky Park will also host an impressive educational section with masterclasses, lectures and film on the menu. Design Cinema will offer a selection of movies that under this or that angle refer to design.
As befits any contemporary cultural event, it will be accompanied by music and a great atmosphere of open-minded creativity.
The festival will also offer to the chance to purchase manufactured and hand-crafted design objects at its market that will operate for the duration of the event. Amongst the items on sale will be functional pieces like furniture as well as more frivolous art objects.
The festival will span four days starting from September 8 trough September 11.
