Bentley Plans to Enter Armored Car Market – Paper

British luxury car maker Bentley Motors may start production of armor-plated car range in response to growing demand for bulletproof cars from customers in Russia, Latin America and the Middle East, The Guardian reported on Tuesday.

“There is … demand from Russia and the Middle East and [Latin America]. For these markets, security is an issue. We are looking at the business case for making armored cars,” the paper quoted Bentley CFO Jan-Henrik Lafrentz as saying.

Bentley does not make armored vehicles at its Crewe factory and refuses to discuss whether it has made armored models in the past, the paper added.

Jaguar Land Rover, another UK-based premium carmaker, already sells armored versions of both its key brands.
