Cats gnawed on a woman’s corpse in a town in the remote mountain region of Khakassia after her daughter left it there for two weeks.
The daughter, who has a drinking problem and whose name has not yet been released, covered her mother’s body with a blanket and locked it in a room in Abakan with two cats when she discovered that the 85-year-old woman had died on July 13, police say.
“The cats chewed off parts of [the woman’s] feet, hand, nose and so on,” a police spokesperson told RIA Novosti on Tuesday.
The body was discovered by the deceased’s granddaughter on July 28.
The cause of her death was not immediately clear.
