China expects transportation infrastructure in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation bloc to grow 10 percent by 2015, Chinese President Hu Jintao said on Saturday.
The means to achieve the goal include encouraging business travel, promoting single-window governmental service across the Pacific and boosting involvement of small and medium businesses in infrastructure development, Hu said, speaking at the APEC summit in the Russian Far Eastern city of Vladivostok.
“The business community is a major force in… international trade,” Hu said. “We need their active participation in infrastructure development.”
Agriculture, energy industry, information technologies and water conservancy are prime areas to focus on, the Chinese president said.
Infrastructure development should also be boosted by increasing APEC connectivity, including cooperation with other regional blocs such as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the ASEAN+3, Hu said.
