Corpses End up on Street at ‘Cramped Morgue’ in NW Russia

An investigation has been launched in northwestern Russia after several bodies were found lying in the street near a hospital, police reported on Thursday.

A preliminary inquiry established that several bodies were “temporarily” put on the street near the hospital in the city of Lug in the Leningrad region on Tuesday because the local morgue “lacked space.”

Morgue managers said they were “overwhelmed with work,” were short of hands and simply had no time to take the bodies inside.

They promptly rectified the situation.

The incident is being investigated to see whether formal charges should be pressed.
