Criminal Case Filed over Latest Russian Flood Deaths

Russian investigators have opened a case into negligence resulting in the deaths of two or more people during a flood in the Tuapse district of Krasnodar region, the regional Investigative Committee reported on Thursday.

Heavy rains flooded the village of Novomikhailovskoye rose on Tuesday night, resulting in the deaths of four people, the Emergencies Ministry said. Sixty-one others required medical care.

“After checking all the details it has been decided to initiate a case into negligence causing the deaths of two or more persons,” the statement said.

The flooding affected 800 homes, a hospital, a school and kindergarten.
