MOSCOW, August 7 (Itar-Tass) —— Criminal charges have been brought against a senior assistant to the Moscow Eastern administrative district prosecutor, the Russian Investigation Committee said on Sunday.
“The Committee’s Moscow office has brought bribe charges against senior assistant to the city’s Eastern administrative district prosecutor Sergei Burlachenko and lawyer Vladimir Belyakov (paragraph 6, article 290 of the RF Criminal Code),” the Committee said.
“Burlachenko, who was the prosecutor in the case of two suspects, demanded a bribe of $40,000 or 1.2 million rubles in exchange for a suspended sentence,” the Committee said.
The suspects reported the demand to the Federal Security Service, and the latter took the case under control.
Federal Security Service officers witnessed the lawyer’ s transfer of 500,000 rubles to the assistant prosecutor on July 27. The assistant was seized on August 5 when trying to receive another sum of money from the lawyer.
