Ten-men CSKA have been held to a goalless draw by Trabzonspor in Turkey but remain second in Group B of the Champions League.
The Armymen were an inch away from gaining all three points but their main striker Seydou Doumbia failed to convert two great opportunities to score in the first half.
The match proved to be one to forget for the Ivorian as he was sent off for two yellow cards midway through the second half. The Turks, however, were too hospitable on the night and didn’t make use of the advantage.
Elsewhere in the same group, Inter’s Walter Samuel and Diego Milito were on target to give the Milan side a 2-1 home victory over Lille, which leaves the Italian side on the brink of qualifying for the knockout stages.
Samuel struck 18 minutes into the game and Milito doubled his side’s lead 25 minutes from time, shortly after missing a golden opportunity. Lille never really threatened but set up a nervy finish when Tulio De Melo took advantage of a mix-up in the Inter defense to fire home with seven minutes remaining.
Consequently, Inter remain top of Group B and now only need a point to progress to the next round. CSKA and Trabzonspor are level with five points, while Lille are bottom, with just two points from four games.
