Table-toppers CSKA Moscow and Zenit have both collected big wins in the Matchday 20 Russian Premier League with the sides still separated by two points.
CSKA 3-0 FC Tom
CSKA had been in danger of losing their leading spot following three games without a win but they put that right on Saturday.
A brilliant team-move finished by Seydou Doumbia got things started five minutes after the break against Tom.
Keisuke Honda would then double the homesiders’ lead with what is fast becoming the Japan international’s signature – a pin-point free-kick, 2-0.
The icing on the cake was added by Doumbia as the league’s top scorer netted number 12 of the season.
Krylia Sovietov 2-5 Zenit Saint Petersburg
Second-seated Zenit stayed hot on the heels of the leaders though, thrashing bottom Krylia on the road.
The game was effectively done by half time, with Luciano Spalletti’s men finding the net four times, while conceding just once.
Danny, Roman Shirokov, Nicolas Lombaerts and Viktor Faizulin all got on the scoreboard for Zenit.
Shirokov added their fifth from the spot a dozen minutes from time, while Pavel Yakovlev hit both goals for the Samara team.
Amkar Perm 1-1 Rubin Kazan
Rubin were lucky to come away with a point after their visit to Perm.
Amkal were leading after a goal from Zahari Sirakov, with the visitors managing to equalize with just six minutes remaining till the final whistle.
A ricochet helped tall defender Solomon Kvirkvelia put in a header following a corner kick, 1-1.
Terek Grozny 1-1 Rostov
The most beautiful goal of the day was scored in Grozny as Timofey Kalachev blasted from a super-long distance to give Rostov the lead in the Chechen capital.
The visitors were looking to bag all three points, but Terek managed to level matters in the final minute, thanks to Adlan Katsayev, 1-1.
