Basketball powerhouse CSKA Moscow have improved their record in this season’s Euroleague after winning their fifth match in as many games.
The Muscovites took care of their Group B Spanish rivals Unicaja in the Russian capital, 77-66.
Serbian Milos Teodosic top scored for the Army Men with 19 points, also adding four assists on the night.
Jonas Kazlauskas’s men were in front 30-27 in the end of the first quarter and gradually increased their advantage to remain 11 points clear by the final buzzer.
Andrey Kirilenko added 17 points and nine rebounds, while Aleksey Shved finished with 10 points.
“The game developed according to our plan,” Kirilenko told CSKA’s official website. “I am very happy with our actions in the third quarter and as unhappy with how we played at the start of the fourth. The great game in the defense determined the outcome of the match. One must give credit to Unicaja as our opponents were able to put us under pressure in the end.”
In the Group’s second fixture of the day, KK Zagreb looked for their first win in the Euroleague as they hosted Zalgiris Kaunas.
And thanks to efforts of Josh Heytvelt, with 17 points and 11 rebounds, together with Simon Krunoslav, who added 22, the Croats sealed their historic victory.
The final score of 80-78 sees Zagreb move level with Zalgiris in Group B, with one win and four defeats.
