Russia’s defense ministry on Tuesday confirmed that a Sukhoi Su-24 attack aircraft crashed during a training flight in the Chelyabinsk Region.
Both pilots survived the incident, Yaroslav Roshchupkin, aide to the Commander of the Central Military District, told RIA Novosti.
“At 67 kilometers from the airfield, during a planned training flight, an Su-24 crashed. Both pilots parachuted out. They are alive. Search and rescue teams have been sent to the scene,” Roshchupkin said, adding that members of a defense ministry commission were also headed for the crash site.
