Bolshoi Theater artists elected Pavel Dmitrichenko, the dancer accused of ordering an acid attack on the theater’s artistic director, Sergei Filin, as the new chairman of the theater’s trade union, soloist Nikolai Tsiskaridze said in an NTV television program. According to Tsiskaridze, Dmitrichenko’s candidacy was approved unanimously at a trade union meeting last week. The theater has denied Tsiskaridze’s statement, however, saying Dmitrichenko was elected chairman long before the acid attack.
