Egypt
will see parliamentary elections this September, a representative for the
Supreme Military Council stated in Cairo
on Monday. He also said that the presidential elections haven’t been scheduled
yet but they will not occur earlier than mid 2012. The official pledged to lift the
state of emergency that has been enforced in Egypt since 1981 and said that the Supreme Council
is eager to transfer power to civilian officials as soon as possible.
Now the Council is at helm, in place of the ousted President
Hosni Mubarak.
