Eight Dead in Khanty-Mansiysk Fire

A fire in a Khanty-Mansiysk oil processing plant on Saturday has left eight people dead and eight injured, local emergency officials said.

The plant, repotedly owned by Invest-Oil, is located along the Tyumen-Khanty-Mansiysk highway.

A local security official told RIA Novosti the fire may have been caused by a gas explosion.

Authorities reported that the fire, which occured in two metal hangars, has been exstinguished.

All the victims were taken to a district hospital in Khanty-Mansiysk.
