The chairman of Britain’s Fire Safety Friends of Russia charity will present two fire engines to firemen in the Central Russian city of Kursk, the regional emergencies service said on Tuesday.
Chris Holgate, a retired West Sussex Fire Officer, has been cooperating with Kursk fire fighters for six years by regularly dispatching special equipment and uniforms to Russia.
“Two firefighting vehicles, power pumps as well as several hundred items of firefighting outfit will have been delivered to Kursk by the end of this year,” regional emergencies service said in a statement.
Most of the equipment will be given to fire fighting volunteers.
Holgate said that his charity fund viewed Kursk region as a full-fledged partner, but not as a region in need. “We don’t only help our Russian colleagues, but also adopt their experiences,” he said.
