Super-rich Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala are at risk of losing their chance of signing one of the world’s best strikers, Samuel Eto’o from Inter Milan.
According to Sport-Express newspaper, the negotiations, which made headlines in the sports media over the last week, are currently deadlocked.
Eto’o was expected to undergo a medical examination and be officially presented as an Anzhi player on Thursday, but for undisclosed reasons the plans were shelved.
The Makhachkala side, owned by Russian billionaire Suleyman Kerimov, were eager to pay €20 million per year to the Cameroonian attacker and €25 million to Inter for his transfer.
The Italian media say the player has agreed to the terms, but the Milan club wants more money for their star.
Anzhi, who have already acquired Brazilian football legend and FIFA World Cup winner Roberto Carlos and Russian international Yury Zhirkov, are reported to be in search of another high-level striker.
