Fire Kills Family of Nine in Russia’s Urals

Nine people including seven children were killed on Friday in a house fire in Russia’s Urals Perm region, emergencies services said.

The fire that set ablaze a four-storey residential building in the village of Mokhovoye in Perm region was reported early on Friday, at about 10.15 am local time, a spokesperson for the regional emergencies services said.

“Bodies of reportedly five boys, two girls and two adults were found on the scene. According to the preliminary information, it was a family that lived in a basement of a four-storey residential building,” the spokesperson, adding that “it was a decent flat.”

People could have died from carbon monoxide poisoning, the emergencies services said.

The police are currently investigating the cause of the tragedy.
