Five people, including two children, were killed in a car crash on Friday in Russia’s North Caucasus republic of Ingushetia, police said.
The two Lada cars collided on the Nazran-Malgobek highway at 6:15 pm local time (14:15 GMT).
“One of the cars contained a husband, wife and their two daughters, aged 6 and 9. The other car contained a police officer,” police said.
Police have not determined the exact cause of the crash.
The tragedy came just days after police said some 500 children and teenagers had died in accidents on Russia’s roads since the start of the year.
Some 30,000 people lose their lives in traffic accidents every year in Russia.
