Five People Injured in Shootout in Southern Russia

Five people were injured on Wednesday morning during a shootout at a market of Stavropol, Stavropol Interior Ministry spokesman Yevgeny Arnautov said.

Earlier a law enforcement source said that five to eight people were injured in the shootout.

“Five people came to the market and got into a conflict with vegetable sellers. The reason of the conflict is unknown. They started firing presumably from a traumatic gun, as a result five people were injured,” Arnautov said.

He added that the suspects fled the scene by car. The owner of the car has already been identified.

An eyewitness said that five or six people in the morning rushed into the market and said that they “would establish order here” then they opened fire. “My son was shot twice, he had two wounds to the chest … He is in the Stavropol Regional Hospital. Six of my relatives, nephews and brothers, were also injured,” a market vendor, David Rzgoyan, said.
