Forest Fires Rage in Western Siberia

Dozens of forest fires have engulfed the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Region in Russia’s Western Siberia, covering an area of more than 3,000 hectares, emergencies services said.

More than 14 new fires broke out in the region over the past 24 hours. Eleven of them have been put out, while firefighters are still struggling to extinguish another 32 blazes.

The fires have not posed a threat to residential areas, the report said.
