Russian gas giant Gazprom wants to further raise domestic gas prices in 2012, the head of the firm’s gas supply and storage department, Alexei Melnikov, said on Friday.
Gazprom plans to increase gas prices by 7.1 percent for commercial customers and 10.4 percent for domestic clients for this year from July 2012.
“The company finds it necessary to make an additional increase[in internal gas prices],” Melnikov said, without mentioning any figures.
President-elect Vladimir Putin said in late March that the gas giant would not increase gas tariffs again for all domestic customers this year.
Local media have reported that Gazprom wanted to raise prices for commercial customers by 26.3 percent from the fourth quarter of 2012, following planned increases this summer.
