Gazprom Marketing Trading, a UK-registered wholly-owned subsidiary of Russian energy giant Gazprom, has signed a three-year gas supply contract with Centrica plc, the parent company of British Gas, Centrica said on Thursday.
Under the deal, Gazprom will supply 2.4 billion cubic meters of natural gas starting from 2014. No value was given for the deal.
“Centrica is at the forefront of helping to deliver UK energy security and this deal is a natural fit with one of the world’s largest gas producers and exporters,” Centrica Energy Origination Director Cordi O’Hara said.
Headquartered in London, Gazprom Marketing Trading was established in 1999 to manage Gazprom’s marketing and trading activities in Europe. The company is tasked to optimize Gazprom’s energy commodity assets and downstream expansion through its marketing and trading network.
