BRUSSELS, July 21 (Itar-Tass) —— Georgian human rights activists have spread among journalists at a euro zone summit the leaflets with the appeals to demand from Saakashvili’s rule to release the photo reporters arrested in Georgia. The Obyectiv independent union of Georgian journalists has staged a protest action for European journalists.

The red leaflet with the inscription “S.O.S.” had the photos of Georgy Abdaladze, Zurab Kurtsikidze, Irakly Gedenidze, who were arrested in Georgia on espionage charges.

“Our task to inform the European public about the ongoing repressions against journalists in Georgia and help concrete innocent people to get free,” the organizer of the protest action and a Brussels representative of the Obyectiv journalist union, Merab Bladadze, told Itar-Tass on Thursday.

A photographer of the Georgian presidential press service Irakly Gedenidze, a photo reporter of the European New Agency Zurab Kurtsikidze and a photographer Georgy Abdaladze, who worked under contract for the Georgian Foreign Ministry and as a stringer for the AP, were detained by Georgian counterintelligence on July 7 and were accused of espionage for Russia.
