Golden Klitchko boys on the silver screen

It seems the ring has become too cramped for the Ukrainian boxing stars Vitaly and Wladimir Klitschko as they’ve decided to spread their wings into the movie business with a film humbly entitled “Klitschko”.

The documentary is a retrospective on the brothers’ lives from amateurs in Ukraine to their move to Germany and their current dominance of the heavyweight division.

The film by Sebastian Dehnardt features interviews with friends and family. As in any Hollywood saga, along the way they experience defeats and setbacks, and triumphant comebacks – as well as conflicts with each other, which the film portrays.

Vitaly admitted at the premiere that initial discussions about a possible fight with Brit David Haye had taken place.

“This fight has real interest. But we’ll underline everything and sign a contract, if Haye quietens down as he is not World champion any more. I’m reminding him all the time. If we sign, we’ll call a news conference to announce the day, time and place of the fight,” Vitaly said.

His last never-to-be-forgotten fight was against another scandalous Brit Dereck Chisora, where he successfully defended his WBC heavyweight title on points.

Meanwhile, Wladimir confirmed the identity of his next challenger.

“I’ll make sure that I’m ready for the next event in June or July. It’s going to be against Tony Thompson and accordingly I’ll do anything possible to win and defend my titles as impressively as possible,” Wladimir said.

Thompson, 40, has a professional record of 36 wins (24 knockouts) and 2 losses, with one of them coming from Wladimir back in 2008.
