MOSCOW, August 17 (Itar-Tass) — The former president of the Soviet Union, Mikhail Gorbachev, believes the Right Cause Party has a chance to get Duma seats in the upcoming election. “I believe they will get votes,” Gorbachev told a news conference.
He admitted that he liked the new party leader, billionaire businessman Mikhail Prokhorov. “I like him, he is an interesting person, paradoxical,” he stressed.
He only said he did not like Prokhorov’s excessive self-confidence. “He is doing things in a big way, even offering himself for premiership. I believe this is not modest and he must be rebuked,” the former Soviet leader said.
As for plans to restore the party, “even upon government’s instructions”, “such a party must be and must take part in a dialogue,” he summed up, wishing success to Prokhorov.
