Hiddink resumes Anzhi talks

Guus Hiddink’s representatives have stepped up their efforts to secure the Dutch coach the position of Anzhi Makhachkala’s head coach.

According to Sovetsky Sport newspaper, Hiddink is expected to soon give a series of interviews on the issue to Russian and foreign media, giving a positive evaluation of the Anzhi project and his participation in it.

The 65-year-old, who initially wanted a salary of €15 million per season from the Makhachkala side, is also reported to be ready to reduce his financial demands.

Hiddink, who led Russia to their historic quarter-final appearance at Euro 2008, is open to offers after being fired by the Turkish national team back in November.

The talks with two other candidates for the job, Rafael Benitez and Carlo Ancelotti, who were also positive about filling the vacancy, are currently on hold.

Anzhi are struggling to find a new manager for Samuel Eto’o and co since they parted ways with local specialist Gadzhi Gadzhiev back in September.
