More than 50 police officers and prison staff were injured by inmates at Sri Lanka’s main jail in the capital Colombo where the authorities launched a drugs raid. Convicts beat up police with sticks and stones as they stormed the top-security Welikada prison searching for hidden drugs as part of a nationwide crackdown on illegal drugs, police said.
