Investigators Raid Rusal’s Moscow Offices

Russian authorities have searched the Moscow offices of world’s largest aluminum producer, Rusal.

A spokesman for Russia’s Investigative Committee said the raid was conducted as a part of an investigation into a tax-evasion case.

The committee released a statement saying Rusal is suspected of committing fraud in 2008 and 2009 in order to avoid paying about 200 million rubles ($6.5 million) in taxes.

The firm said in a statement that the search was a result of what it called “groundless claims” by tax authorities against a Rusal subsidiary and its management.
